Dusk

Dusk

Twenty minutes when the sky shows its full range at once.

Blue at the top, gold at the bottom, and a long band in the middle that has no name. Dusk is the only hour where all three sit in one frame.

The moon is small enough to miss. A quiet composition still needs one place for the eye to land.

I sampled this into a palette and it collapsed. Six flat stops looked nothing like the photograph, because the value is in the transition and not in the colours.

Gradients in interfaces usually fail the same way. Someone picks two good colours and the middle goes grey.
